The hotel is a historical monument which was built in 1841 by Franz Mahler in neoclassic style on the place where a han had been built in the XVIII century.
In that time the Motel has been called ‘ The White Cross', its former name has been given by the post office station which had been situated in front of the Motel to the crossing line road Viena – Arad – Sibiu .
In this building has been constituted The Romanian Cultural Association from Ardeal and in 1872 here was organized a political organization for the Romanian people from the West part of Transilvania.
During time The Hotel has been hosting a lot of personalities from thecultural life of those times like George Cosbuc, I.L.Caragiale, Octavian Goga, George Enescu, Jules Massenet, Francois Copee, Andy Endre and Arany Janos.
In the meeting room of the Hotel -where today The Cinema Muresul is located – a lot of personalities gave concerts lke Franz Liszt – 1846 – Johann Strauss the son – 1847 – Johannes Bramms – 1879 – Pablo Cassalis 1912.
The redecoration of the Hotel has been dated since 1974.
